CSB464 Patient centred care | The Healthcare Provider
Answer:
Introduction
Patient-centered care is described as a process which supports and promotes the integration as well as involvement of both families of the patient, the patient and the health care provider (Kirby, 2018; Kumar & Chattu, 2018). Person-centered care, therefore, means that the families of the patient, their lived experience and the patient is placed at the center of major decisions as well as viewing them as professionals and experts so as to receive the best outcome out of them (Mitchell et al, 2018). However, in order to have a positive patient satisfaction and improved outcomes of the treatment process, patient-centered care has to incorporate the following actions;
Staff education; healthcare providers must be constantly be taught the importance of involving peoples lived experiences and the patient in the treatment process as it will positively improve the outcome of the process,
Communication; for person-centered care to register positive patient satisfaction, communication has to be enhanced between the patient and the healthcare provider. The healthcare provider should not make most of the decisions of the treatment process but must constantly communicate with the patient.
Patient advocacy; patient advocacy will ensure that the rights of the patient is communicated to the healthcare provider concerning his or her rights in having the full knowledge of the treatment process and contributing in the process.
Conclusion
Patient-centered care is one of the modern approaches of nursing which is being championed in most of the healthcare organizations as opposed to the conventional approach whereby healthcare provider had the monopoly to make all the decisions in the treatment process.
