Environmentalism on the other hand is a 20^thcentury movement for preserving the natural world to survive the environment.

Towards the end of the European colonial empires there was an emergence of national self-government in the developing nations like India and China. Moreover, there was a reaction against the western traditional influences, emergence of communism and effect of two world wars advanced the decline of western influence in the world history. In contradicting this statement, continued influence of the United States and European military along with political powers over other nations and cultural domination can be referred. Moreover, the collapse of communism in the last decades of 20^thcentury proves the power of western dominance in world history.
