I agree that Vietnam was a noble, unselfish American effort to assist an ally from falling to Communism for the following reasons.
The army of the United States had decided to participate in the war due to the fact that the country of Vietnam had been facing a great risk of being taken over by the communist rule that had been influencing
the country. The war had pitted all the allies of North Vietnam and the government of the concerned country against the government of South Vietnam. The concerned country had been waging the war in order to avoid the communist rule within the country. The American army had stepped in to help the ally in the prevention of the communism in the government of the country.

The American government did not want the spread of the communism within the other countries thereby leading to the loss of the allies of the concerned country. The American government had been apprehensive of the fact that the spread of the communism in the Vietnamese government might lead to the conditions wherein the concerned country might be influenced by the Soviet Union. This might have led to the repetition of the conditions that had been observed in case of the Republic of China.

The war had huge consequences on the economy and the population of Vietnam. The American army was deployed in the area to enable the victory in the war against the government of South Vietnam. This was to avoid the factors that are related to the ill-effects of the communism in the governance of the concerned area. These ill-effects might include the fact that the government owns all the businesses as well as the properties within the state, the lack of the freedom of speech, the inconsiderate nature of the government towards the needs of the consumer and other such conditions.

The major factor that might have been affecting the involvement of the American forces at the Vietnam war is the prevention of the conditions that are related to the communism within the country. The conditions that the American forces might be attempting to avoid are the conditions that pertain to the negative impacts of the communism within the country. The various factors that are included in the list of negative impacts are the inconsiderate nature of the government towards the needs of the consumer and other such conditions within the country.
