Description of the Project

Gender discrimination in the workplace is a critical issue that has been affecting different people of different genders across the world. This project is meant to explore gender discrimination in workplaces. The project will explore the reasons why there are gender discrimination and the factors that promote this problem. It is also going to explore the various practices or strategies that have currently been put in place to eliminate the problem. In order to eliminate this problem, there is a need to come up with a project that will solve this problem. This can be achieved by conducting research and suggest the possible solutions to the problem.

The primary research question that will guide this project is:

What is the impact of gender discrimination in the workplace among Afghan women?

World Views

Transformative Worldview

According to Creswell and David (2018), a transformative worldview requires that an inquiry should be intertwined with politics and an agenda of political change when handling a social problem at any level. Therefore, when handling the problem of gender discrimination in workplaces, it is essential to come up with a reform agenda that will change the lives of the affected people, the organisations or firms in which these people work or live as well as the society at large.

The Constructivist Worldview

According to Creswell and David (2018), social constructivists hold that people should seek to understand the world they live and work. When addressing the problem of gender discrimination in the workplace, the main focus will be to develop meanings of the experiences of the victims.

The Postpositivist Worldview

Postpositivists view the world in a deterministic perspective where causes determine the impact or results (Creswell & David, 2018). When addressing gender discrimination at the workplace from the lens of postpositivism, the research will be focused on assessing the causes of gender discrimination and their impact on the victims and the society. This will be used to set research questions that will guide the study.

The Pragmatic Worldview

From a pragmatic view, the study will be looking at the actions and the consequences of gender discrimination and the possible solutions to the problem. 

Methodology

A qualitative research approach will be used. Since the study is aimed at exploring the impact of gender discrimination among women in Afghanistan, a qualitative approach is the most appropriate as it will inform the researcher about the causes and effects. Specifically, an ethnographic design will be used. According to Creswell and David (2018), ethnography is a design where a researcher studies the shared patterns of behaviour, language and actions of a certain group. In this case, interviews will be conducted in various organizations in Afghanistan.

The essence of the Study

The primary purpose of the study is to explore the causes of gender discrimination among women and recommend the best approaches to solve the problem.

Key Elements of the Study

For a long time, women have been discriminated in various workplaces. They are believed that they cannot perform duties and in most cases, they have been left out on matters pertaining to leadership. Women have been denied chances for career growth and other benefits such as compensation. This is a serious problem that needs to be addressed with immediate effect. While men are also affected, the most vulnerable group is women. Policies that have been put in place are not adhered to, and hence, proper measures should be in place to ensure the legislation regarding gender equity is implemented in all workplaces.
