Hospitality management is a type of management industry in which many other fields exist. It is a very vast category within the service industry. It majorly includes the lodging activities, cruise line, theme parks, transportation and also event planning. There are some addition tourism industry`'s fields associated with this. In today`'s times, the hospitality industry is one of the top multi-billion-dollar industries which depend majorly on the disposable income and the availability of the leisure time. A major hospitality unit or sectors such as an amusement park, restaurant or a shopping mall, consists of multiple groups of services such as direct operations and facility maintenance. This includes management, marketing, human resources, housekeepers and kitchen workers. It is also one of the top growing industries nowadays. There is a high requirement of manpower in hospitality management. For example, in a hotel or a theme park, the workforce is equally divided among the different departments of that service provider.
Hospitality industry uses a standard usage rate or also called as vacancy rate. It is a very important element of hospitality management. For instance, in a workhouse, the owner is always pressurizing for the optimum utilization of their firm`'s resources. This includes both production assets as well as human resources. If there is no man to operate a machine, there is no use of the machines and vice versa. The fixed costs are maintained at the very low level. This same applies to the hospitality industry, in amusement parks, restaurants and shopping malls. The usage rate or the vacancy rate is now ranked up as the intake is very high.
Apart from the usage rate, another facet of the hospitality industry is the ‘barrier to entry’. This means that newcomers to this industry have to make their way up quickly in order to survive in this industry. It is because the industry looks after the competitive advantages between the service providers in the industry which is a very important aspect to remain in the industry. Another thing which is taken care of in hospitality industry is the appropriate use of the historical as well classical places or antiques. These historical or classical place or antique is used in service to draw more and more customers. For instance, a restaurant situated near a very famous historical place is far more valuable than a restaurant which is situated in a normal place. Specific themes are chosen, to attract more customers day by day and to grab the attention of people. The facilities are made sure up to the mark, and they leave no stones unturned in serving the customers. The industry serves up for both the money business as well as to ensure the happiness and customer satisfaction. No service provider would like to see any customer going home unhappy or not satisfied, after paying for his or her service.

There are many accommodation services in this hospitality industry, some of them are:
1. Hotels
A hotel is basically an establishment which provides living and paid lodging facilities to its customers for a short period of time. Apart from giving a room to live, hotels give much another facility to its customers apart from the accommodation. In other words, hotels are rental places where people can rent a room or two for spending some days in that town or city. Hotel services and room rental are usually used by the people who are visiting that city. It may be a professional visit or a personal trip. Hotels also provide spa facilities, theater facilities, and restaurant facilities apart from the accommodation.
2. Resorts
Resorts are same as hotels but a bit higher level than hotels. Resorts are basically meant to be places, where someone can chill and spend some good vacation time. A resort is basically a themed chilling place. The resorts are laden with swimming pools everywhere and spa facilities. The hospitality services are a bit higher than any other accommodation facilities here.
3. Hostels
Hostels are also a type of accommodation facility which is mainly focused for the staying and renting for the students and bachelors. These are basically for a student or a working man, who has come to the city for study or work and need good and cheap accommodation. The hostel may be a private body or education institute bound. The hostel can be a single room accommodation, sharing or dorm accommodation. In this, a single room is shared by many students.
4. Bed and Breakfast
These are small scale accommodation facilities which provide a night over and a breakfast only. These types of accommodation are usually found in remote areas or village areas. The price of these type facilities is the lowest and the services are also very limited.

Hospitality industry provides a number of eatery services, some of them are:
1. Restaurant
Restaurants are the main eatery providing outlet where people go to have a full meal. These are basically high-profile outlets and tend to be more costly than other eatery outlets. These are more of a cuisine based eatery outlet and are much popular in the urban areas. There is a high requirement of manpower in restaurants and the turnovers are also high. There are many people working in the restaurant and have good vacancy rate.
3. Cafes
Cafes are small time eatery outlets which mainly facilitate small meals such as breakfasts, snacks, coffee and other beverages. Cafes are also local hangout places where people tend to come over and have a cup of coffee and chat. The prices here are also not that high as compared to a restaurant that`'s why their popularity is very high. The ambiance is also considered very much important in cafe business. If the ambiance of the cafe is good, it will attract more customers.
3. Nightclubs
As the name suggests, these are pubs for specialized for the night life. These are mostly youth oriented. These offer parties and function hosting and have alcohol based beverages in an abundance. Parties are a part of the life for the youth in the urban areas and these offer the services to these people.
4. Bars
In bars, alcohol beverages are provided with snacks. It is a type of restaurant but only offers alcohol drinks and snacks. It does not offer full meals. Bars are one of the popular places for elders in evenings in both urban as well as rural areas.
