Introduction

Book v Movie
Each book of Harry Potter had vivid details, which enhanced the reader’s experience but the movies failed to capture these details. At times, there were even “blunders” made when the movie was adopted from the books. One of the leading issues which the book lovers have raised in this regard relates to the entire Harry Potter series. In the entire series, there was a very famous character Peeves, who was the poltergeist in the movie. He was a famous troublemaker who contributed to different plot twists and even made the life of Argus Filch very difficult. One of the key plot moments was when Peeves saluted Fred and George Weasley after they wrecked havoc on Dolores Umbridge. But offcourse the salute could not be a part of the movie as Peeves never existed in the movies (Ryan, 2016).
The most criticised part of the entire series was the Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. In this book, the book fans were highly disappointed when the colour of Heroine Granger’s dress was changed to pink from the book stated blue. More important was the manner in which Professor Dumbledore addressed Harry after his name came out of the Goblet of Fire. In the book, Professor asks Harry very calmly if he had put his name in the goblet, but the book showed Dumbledore going berserk and which till date is laughed at by the book lovers as “Did ya put ya name in da Goblet of Firya?” (Rosenfield, 2015).
There were so many other plots which were completely ruined in the movie. The movie showed Ronald Weasley as a jealous person and a very selfish one at that. The book instead shows him as a person struggling at war times due to his worry for his family and also him being deemed as a king, in the sense “Weasley is our King”. Another Weasley which was mocked in the movie was Ginny Weasley, who was shown as nothing more than a fan girl. If only had the character been properly addressed, viewers would have known how she named her pets and why no one wanted her to name her kids; reference here is to be made to Pigwidgeon. Percy was shown very less, and where he was, he was depicted as such a “sniveling little jerk”, but the movie goers would never know how he helped Harry during his time at Hogwarts (Pippin, 2014).
Conclusion
Thus, it becomes very clear from the above discussion that the movies fail to cover the true essence of the books. And even at times, to suit the perceptions, characters are missed out and depicted in altogether different light than they truly are. This is the reason why the books will always triumph the movies.
