Visual Arts: Dianna Poindexter

In her recent work, she has painted dragonflies, which has been exploring the ongoing basis. It symbolises the combines and crosses, which has been representing the Japanese painting of life and joy. The colours usually reflect and refract the power of light that indicates the mysticism and magic. It shows the illusion for others that are perceived. These painted Dragonflies are the reminders that reflect the illusions and represent the lights that are shining in a new vision (Koehler et al. 2012). Most of her works are defining the joys and happiness with a high quality of the It is noted that Dianna uses the social action in motion to promote her visualisation. Considering the features of her paintings, she proclaimed, “Paining is my passion! As an artist I have privilege of seeing the beauty in the world, capturing in my art then bringing it to others” (Diannapoindexter.com, 2016).

She has mostly painted the images of nature with the blend of emotions. The major intention of the artist is to capture the beauty of the nature and portray it with the help of colours (Borg and Cauchi 2015). The artist is mainly motivated by the music like Jazz, Soul, Chill, and Classical Guitars. However, exploring the coastal region was also one of the major focuses of the artist to portray it on her canvas. The illustration of the unique beauty of the nature and landscape is what makes her paintings more lively and full of happiness. Spending times with friends and families also inspired to observe the nature more.

Si Yuan Shelly Gu

Si Yuan Shelly Gu has created a new level of art by his illustrations. Her works usually depicts the linking between the conflicting world of individual, nature, and society. It is noted that the current environment has become much manipulative. The advanced digital world has been transforming the society into consumerisms. The emergence of such digitalisations is thus affecting the relationship of nature with people and the society. The decays found in such relationship are thus portrayed through his exclusive paintings.

In most of her artworks, it has been shown that the Nature has been trying to survive forcefully in this digitalised world. Therefore, it is quite challenging to survive in a world, which has become much more advanced. The attempt to conquer the world is clearly illustrated in her paintings. In order to seek ‘identity’, the individuals have been engaging themselves into fights and conflicts. Therefore, the artist tried to paint the emotions and survival of mankind to stabilise their existence. The nature of her illustration has become prominent by her statement.

“My work is a visual depiction of the relationship between the conflicting worlds of nature, society, and the individual. The rampant advancement of our current society, manipulated by overwhelming consumerist ideals and the expanding realm of the digital, has resulted in relationship decay and denser cities.”

Her Illustrations is visible in the ARTEXPRESS Exhibition, which showcases the works of the certified artists. The exhibition follows the visualisation of those arts, which have the social messages (Artexpress.artsunit.nsw.edu.au 2016). The arts that are teaching people by using the learning resources are also forecasted here. Similarly, it is seen that the arts of Si Yuan Shelly Gu carries the social messages within her illustrations. She has chosen such art exhibition as the media for broadcasting her social messages through her paintings. The scenario of the current world is mainly featured through her artwork. The conflicting self identity is reflected through her artworks. One of her major works named What Happened to I is a beautifully illustrated piece of arts that is presented by her in this exhibition. She basically tried to portray the feelings of the individuals who are particularly busy trying to establish their self-identity (Artgallery.nsw.gov.au 2016). They are much involved with the digitalisation process that they have forgotten the nature views and beauty. The reflection through her paintings is the significant message that the society should consider. It depicts the survival of the nature in a most distressful manner when the society is polluted with industrial particles. Hence, if compared her works with the art works of Dianna Poindexter, it can be noted that though both of them try to repaint the natural views, there are still some differences found. Whereas Dianna tried to clarify the portraits of the natural beautify and landscape, Si Yuan Shelly Gu tried to convey the social message. In both ways, the art works have reached into new standards of illustrative works.
