Discuss about the Statement of Purpose for Naturopathy and Yogic Sciences.
Answer:
Introduction
After completion of my Bachelor of Naturopathy and Yogic Sciences, I have enrolled in a post graduate program in Master of Health Science, with specialization in Occupational Health and Safety from the Western Sydney University and continuing with the present course.
I was associated with various renowned hospitals, such as: S.D.M Group of Hospitals, Spark Health Home, Himalayan Institute of Alternative Medicine and so on, where I ha
ve worked as Naturopathy doctor and Spa Manager, respectively. My job roles require me to interact with different clients and the majority of them have health issues, which are due to various causative factors like occupation, sedentary lifestyle, insomnia, daily life stress and many more. During my practice, the majority of the issues, which I come across are back pain, dizziness, ophthalmological problems, which made me understand that pursuing higher study in occupational health and safety would enable me to acquire more knowledge, which in turn would help me to serve my clients better. Naturopathy and Yogic Sciences include acupuncture, herbalism, homeopathy along with lifestyle counselling and diet and the methods are based on self-healing and vitalism, a non-invasive and holistic method that recommend against surgery and vaccinations (modern medicine). I have met many patients, who are scared of administration with modern medicine, which somewhat convinced that if I pursue my higher study in occupational health and safety based on my previous experiences and education, it would be a strong basis for booming my career further. I could also inform my clients about their occupational health and safety issues.
However, I have analysed the fact that though I provide my clients with naturopathy and yoga recommendations, some of clients’ health issues become so intense that it necessitates proper nursing administration and the number is gradually increasing since last few years. I have also seen that in certain cases, some clients are willing to change their care from naturopathy to modern medicine to receive rapid healing. Choosing a degree that will occupy 3years of my life is a big and challenging decision and requires deep thought prior I commit. However, the experiences I regularly obtain from my professional practice made me think that I should pursue a bachelor program in nursing. This would further broaden my field of practice as nursing includes palliative care, midwifery, children’s nursing school nursing. Though at this moment, I have not fixed my focus to any specific domain in nursing, I am keen to learn from the very basic level. The degree could be tailored to make it relevant to my interests and shifting within field is also reasonably simple. After a successful competition of my academic course, I could be a registered nurse and could receive relevant job opportunities from across the country.
Practicing in this field could be little risky considering exposure to the viruses and pathogens, however, adequate knowledge and expertise could inform me how to be safe and healthy while caring for patients. Not only that, I believe in collaborative working and helping others. Nursing is such a career choice, where I could meet professionals from multidisciplinary areas and work together to serve the clients better. This would also provide me with a scope to increase my field of knowledge. Better communication with my patients and their family members would inform me to understand their core concerns, which would expose me to diverse types of problems that in turn would enable me to learn probable solutions as well as support my patients.
There is a companionship among the healthcare workers and mutual working to save patient’s life could develop bonding experience. Professionals understand about their co-workers issues, and try to solve accordingly, which makes this occupation more enjoyable.
After a thorough research, I have also understood that there are various opportunities in nursing field that includes opportunities outside direct client care. As a nurse, I could work in the areas like case management, education and discharge planning. Hospitals are not the sole industry where I could apply, law firms, schools, insurance organizations also hire professional nurses.
As per me, one of the best ways to decide if nursing profession is a good option for me is to communicate with an experienced nurse and understand about their everyday’s work. Thus, I preferred to have a word with one of my close friend working as a nurse and understand about his experience while working in this area. I am confident that my strong dedication towards my academics, practical experience and analytical skill would enable me to accomplish my graduation in nursing.
