PUBH 620 Reflection on Biostatistics - Free Samples to Students

Reflection gives nursing professionals the scope to learn from the mistakes as well as to realise the different weakness they have so that they can be overcome successfully (Arnold & Boggs, 2015). Moreover, it also helps individuals to identify the strengths and try their best to maintain these strengths throughout their career so that they can provide high quality care to the patients.

Some of the strengths that I have developed in my professional life and through my experience had helped to become favourite person not only among the patients but also to the higher authority of the healthcare organisation. I have good skills in providing evidence-based practices by which I can provide the care to patients, which are up to, dare and are safest. Whenever, I face any confusion regarding my clinical knowledge and skills, I utilise the technique of evidence-based approach effectively. I also promote concept of person centred care where i try my best to make the patients participate in shared decision-making. Shared decision-making helps patients to feel important and respected. It also makes them feel empowered. Moreover, I also provide much importance to effective communication. Effective communication is found to be extremely important in modern day healthcare systems both within a team and among different teams of different departments as it helps to develop bonds and trust among the members (Lo-Biondo et al., 2017). This reduces work pressure and prevents different types of errors like medication errors, long waiting times and many others (Black et al., 2016). Moreover, it also helps in the prevention of power struggles and hence ensures smooth workflow and happy working environment. This induces productivity. Although I am not excellent in patient engagement, I fair well in addressing their issues and try my best to assess their satisfaction so that I can try my best to meet up to their expectations and provide the best care that the patients expect from us. I also have good knowledge about documentation procedures. I have developed knowledge about the handling of the electronic health records. Documentation helps in jotting down each data of the patients, which prevents and legal and ethical consequences but also helps professionals to develop knowledge about their proper health conditions.

The main weakness that i have developed is the lack of knowledge in budget preparation and handling. I have poor creating, monitoring as well as analysing budgets and even fail in ongoing evaluation of productivity. My skills totally lack the ability of forecasting future revenues. Such a lack of ability results in creating barriers in effective mission and vision development of an organisation where the strategies of making profit cannot be produced (Regan et al., 2016). I lack some of the management skills that and I need to practice myself so that I can develop as an effective leader. I have poor researching ability therefore when I am given the duty to conduct a performance assessment of different staffs, I cannot perform properly. I am not able to identify the performance indicators and cannot establish data collection methodology and performance data effectively (Masters et al., 2015). I also fail when i have to take decisions of terminating staffs as i start feeling emotional about the person and cannot be strict to my decisions. This states that i have low emotional intelligence where I score poorly on self-regulation skills. During change management phases, I score moderately where I can communicate changes, involve staff in change process, and establish timelines, milestones, and many others. However, i also need to be more skilful in the change management approaches so that it can provide effective working environment in the organisation.

I have to develop my researching skills and learn proper ways for change management project. To gain more knowledge about this, I will try to take lessons from my mentors as well as the stalwart leaders in the healthcare professionals. I can develop my knowledge from their experiences as they can guide me where I am making mistakes and the ways by which I can overcome my mistakes. I would set myself a period of 8 months and I would go through more books by eminent researchers. Secondly, I am quite poor with my budget making skills. This is indeed one of the most important parts as healthcare organisations have to develop well-planned budget systems so that they can continue provide enough resources to service users and also helps employees to earn their salaries well (Allgood et al., 2017). Therefore, I would join workshops for developing my accounting and budget making skills so that I can also become efficient in financial prospects of the organisation. I would set myself a time for 6 months for it.
