I have experienced a failed project in my early days as a project manager. Torrential rain, flooding and debris were responsible for the failure of the project. The management should have postponed the project and started it after the monsoon.
Reflection:
I have learnt that big engineering works need to be managed professionally and mathematically to ensure successful execution. I was managing a project team entrusted with the responsibility of a civil construction project beside a river. It started raining heavily and the project site was submerged which led to loss of materials. I learnt that the physical conditions of the project locations should be studied in detail before initiation of the tasks (Down and Gregory 2014).
