NZDB650 Applied Computing For the Development Process
Answer:
Requirements identification:
Introduction
Muritiai Publishing wants to create recipe system to organize and manage the information. This recipe system manages and stores the information related to the recipe's books, books' authors, and details of recipes and category of each recipe. Author store all information related to recipe's book authors. Recipe bookstore information related to all recipe books. A book has only one author but an author could write multiple books. Recipe table store all the information related to recipes. A recipe will only come from one book. For each recipe, you need to know what book it comes from and what the page number is in that book. A recipe only comes from one book. Categories table store the information related to recipe category. Each recipe will be put into
a category or multiple categories such as pasta, dessert or both. For each recipe, you are to include a picture of the finished recipe for the user to view.
An alternative solution
We also create recipe database in MySQL, Oracle, Microsoft SQL etc. but for this purpose, we need to install extra software in our system. If we want to generate reports and create reports in that software then we need the extra tool for that.
Additional features which are available within Microsoft Access: -
In Microsoft access, we can easily create forms, reports and also generate queries. In this recipe system, I create user-friendly forms and also generate reports. I create four forms recipe form, recipe's categories forms, recipe's book forms and author form. Users can easily ass records in recipe database by using these forms. I also generate four reports in Microsoft Access. These reports display information regarding recipe system.
Database design
I used Microsoft access to create recipe system. According to me in Microsoft access, we can easily create, manage and manipulate the database.
I design the above database. This relational database full fills all the requirements those define in given case study. The strength of recipe system is User can easily add, save and delete the records from tables by using forms and the weakness of this system one recipe book has only one author. If in case one book has many authors then it creates the problem.

Comments on the Development Process Undertaken: · Firstly I designed ERD according to given case study. · Then designed tables in Microsoft Access. · After that, I established the relationship between the tables. · Then I designed user-friendly forms to add the data in tables. · Then I added the data/ records in tables by using forms. · At last, I create reports. |
Strengths of the Final Product: The user can easily add, save and delete the records from tables by using forms. |
Weaknesses of the Final Product: In given case study one author has many books and one book has only one author. I create database according to this relationship. But if one book has one or many authors then it creates the problem. |
What I would do Differently Next Time: I will create the database that removes weakness my present database. Next time recipe database able to store information related to one author has one or more books and one book has one or more authors. |
General Comments: I learn many things about this assignment. I learn how to create tables, forms and reports in Microsoft Access in the efficient and effective way. |
Basic User Documentation: -
- Firstly open this database in Microsoft Access.
- After that you see on the left side there are many tables, forms and reports are available.
- Just double-click on any table. You will see the tables. You can also add the records in tables.
- If you want open forms then double-click on any form. You can also add/ save/ delete information by using these forms. If you want to close form then click on form close button.
- If you want to view reports then double click. It will display the reports. You can also print those reports.
- If you want to see the relationship between the tables then click on database- tool option and then click on relationships option. It will show you relationship between the tables.
