 Supporting an individual through a significant life changing event is very important as that is the only time when they required extreme support and guidelines. This report provides information related to the events of life on an individual and how he/she reacts. It further evaluates responses of various groups during the time of crises. It gives a special preference to health and social care organization to provide support to individual under crises (Glasby, 2017).

Impact of significant life events on individuals and their social networks

In the preset given case Marie is undergoing depression which is caused due to the death of her husband. This incident was a significant life changing event in her life. All these life changing event have different type of impact in their life. Because the death of her husband Marie is upset and undergoing a critical mental and physical condition. One of the physical conditions seen is loss of appetite that is a common resultant of life changing event. A patient doesn’t feel like consuming food under such a situation. There is serious issue with the hygiene of the person undergoing life changing event (Graham, 2009).

Such events can cause mental illness which is seen in his/her behavior. They feel disturbed and irritated due to any situation. Stress is the most common symptom seen in the patient. As per the case study Marie is facing a lot of pressure because she saw her husband dying. They can assist by staying with the individual for a while; this will create a sense of assurance. In the given case study Marie is receive support from her parents. She is staying with them and trying to get over her husband’s death (Moss, 2015).

In the same manner friends and colleagues play an important role in getting over a significant life event? Colleagues can support in term of work and can come over coffee that will provide relief to her. They can contribute in terms of financial and emotional help.  Similarly, religious groups and community help in building faith of the person. Marie has lost faith and it is essential under this situation to develop it so that she can start her life once again (Cohen, 2004).

Effectiveness of organizational policies and procedures

Organizational policies play a significant role in providing support.  These organizations help in developing a high quality standard in order to provide healthcare function.  In case of death of the person it is the aim of the hospital to provide proper assistance to the individual. The employees of these units are helpful and caring to the family and relatives (Schwarzer, 2000).

There are multiple ways through which support can be extended. One way is to offer proper counseling session that will provide them with an opportunity to express themselves. This practice will motivate them to get over the loss in a simple manner.

Recommendations and Conclusions

It is essential to provide support to those who are experiencing significant life changing event.  It is recommended that the organization body should provide with effective services so that the patient can get over the empty space in life. It is critical to provide help to the people by ensuring a regular support. By keeping a consistent support the problems faced by the people can be resolved.
