MN503 Overview of Internetworking and Wireless Network
Questions:
Main objectives of this assignment is to enable student to analyse a business case study, develop requirements, select networking devices for the given business case and plan a network design. After successful completion of this assignment, students should be able to:
- Analyse and discuss the significance of internetworking for contemporary organisations.
- Explain the role of internetworking to support business and technical goals through planning and design.
- Develop architectural internetworking design for the business, information, technology, and application domains.
Business case study: Choose one of the four business case studies provided You have to inform your instructor on the choice before start working on the assignment.
Description
For a chosen business case, write a report on the following points:
- Analyse and discuss the significance of internetworking for the chosen business case.
- Develop hardware requirements for a network with device specifications including series, model and features.
- Draw architectural internetworking design for the business in Netsim.
Answers:
Scope of the Project
Indian university decided to create the new network design. Because the current network infrastructure contain the various network problems. The existing network problems are reduced by creating the new network infrastructure by using the Netsim simulator. The Proposed network infrastructure is used to provide the secure network infrastructure. By make use of the cisco wireless solutions, the wireless connection is enabled to the overall campus. The wireless connections is useful for student to access the content easily. The network design components, limitation, outcomes and benefits are will be analyse.
Indian University Challenges
The University of Indian network infrastructure includes the one or more business challenges such as,
- The Indian university decided to build the scalable network infrastructure because it offer the best in class educations.
- It optimized the budget to create the best deployment of the network infrastructure.
- It support the up country location [1].
Network components
Hardware requirements are listed below.
- Operating system - Windows 7
- Memory - 2GB RAM
- Hard Drive - 2 GB
- Routers - Cisco 7206 router with BGP links
- Switch - Cisco 6509E Switch
- Firewall - Cisco ASA 5550 firewall
- Server - Cisco ACS server
Network Infrastructure
To create the network infrastructure design by using the below steps [2].
Open Netsim simulator and create the network design by click the File. Select New to create network topology. After design a network topology by add the network devices. Required devices is selected to add the device.
If add the routers, select the Cisco 7206 Router with BGP links.
To add the switch, select the Cisco 6509E Swtich with wireless Controller.
After the PC and server by select the required server that is the Cisco ACS Server and 10 Gigabit Switched Backbone devices.
Network design is given below.
The Indian university network infrastructure is shown above. The proposed network design is used to converge the Internet Protocol to run the applications. The proposed network is used to provide wireless network and it is very useful for the student to easily access the content from the network [3]. It mainly used to gives the end to end solution by using cisco wireless solutions. The wireless network connections is used to easily deploy in the campus network using the 1252 NS 1142 access point. It provides the secured network and supporting the video, voice and data. It using the single IP network and it used to reduce costs. It improve the system availability and network scalability.
Network Infrastructure Benefits
The benefits are listed below.
- The Proposed network design resolving the existing network issues.
- It create the world class and scalable network infrastructure.
- It use the cisco wireless solutions to provide the wireless connections for overall campus.
- It improve the system availability and it provide the data, video and voice access to anytime and anywhere [4].
- It useful for student access the content by using the wireless connections.
- It provides the better resource utilization.
- It easily deploying the new technology.
- It also improving the user experience.
- It enhancing the staff knowledge and skill set.
- It significantly saving the operational costs.
- It proposed network design is to manage the complex technology in a remote sites.
- It increase the trust and dependency in the network.
Network Infrastructure Outcomes
The Proposed network design outcomes are listed below.
- The proposed network design more expansive to maintain the network.
- Lack of modularity
- Hard to deploying the network infrastructure [5].
Network Infrastructure Limitations
The Proposed network design limitations are listed below.
- The network infrastructure must be using the cisco wireless solutions to provide the high secure network.
- The Cisco wireless solutions is useful for student accessing the content.
- It should establish the university placement cell.
- It must create the world class and scalable network infrastructure for Indian university.
- It should facilitate the distance education.
- It must be using the cisco product to reduce the costs.
- It must be provides the better resource utilization and improve the user experience [6].
Conclusion
The University of Indian contains the network problems and it reduced by creating the new network design by using the Netsim simulator. The new network infrastructure is simulated and discussed in detail. It provides the security and productivity for the overall campus. The network design with the wireless connections is enable for the student to accessing the content. The proposed network design benefits, limitations and outcomes are analysed in detail. The Indian university challenges also discussed in detail.
