Approaching the Assignment
Making sense of information is mostly about interpreting the data that is available to those who are in control of the organization, for example, the managers. I went on to give the in-depth analysis of what big data does and its relevance to industries. Besides that, I explained the impact of Big Data on healthcare. Big data has various applications, and my report went on to explain and discuss the application of Big Data in the following areas. I explained its use to the banking sector, energy and utilities, transport sector, retail and wholesale, manufacturing, education and most of all in healthcare. From the classroom materials, I was able to gather some information about the application which afterward I added more information from the internet sources.
On analyzing the applications of Big Data, I realized that businesses depend on the large volumes of data that is provided them to help in making sound decisions. The tools and the technology provided by the company helps them to interpret large quantities of data very fast and utilize the information in making the companies more efficient. I can comfortably say that the task for not strenuous, I was calm all the way because of the multiple tones of data that was at my disposal. I can only say that organizing and effectively presenting the discussions and findings was time-consuming. However, with the rubric and the topic objectives and expectations, I was able to bring for the work in the best way. My calmness can be attributed to the time I spend reading my class work and making the use of information and sources from the internet and the library. Also, the rubric helped me know what to look for and how to present it which made my work more calm and relaxing.
Strategies/Lessons used in completing the Assignment
There are lessons I learned and discovered and the strategies I employed in completing the task. First, I consulted the topic objectives to help me know what I was expected to present at the end of the task. Additionally, I used the rubric as my guide, and it helped me in understanding the quality of information the instructor expects and what grades would be due. I also spent enough time on the internet researching and reviewing information that was helpful for the assignment and used all that data to compile and complete the assignment. The task required reviewing data and analyzing it to make it both presentable and useful in solving the question. There are three things I have learned from this assignment, and fist is that defining essential terms is essential and also giving an overview of the work. Both strategies help in providing the reader the right direction and help him/her know what the assignment is all about. Another approach is that I partitioned my paper into sections, for example, I began with the applications, benefits and the potential risks of using Big Data. Dividing the work makes it easy for the reader to follow and get the flow of the information. It also helped me find the information I wanted quickly and from many sources.
Future Improvements on the Assignment
In the first assignment, I partitioned it into fewer parts like the application, impacts both negative and positive and the conclusion. I realized that more information could not be captured in such a manner. Therefore, I would divide my report into sections like the introduction and overview, where I will define essential terminologies and give a brief introduction and the thesis statement. Afterward, I will do a brief review if literature where I will be discussing the critical areas that cover Big Data and its impact. In the discussion part, I will be addressing more issues than the impact and applications. I will also be analyzing the use of big data and providing examples for their applications and implications. Instead of just highlighting the risks and benefits to the Epworth Healthcare I would review more data and include findings. I think findings have a better way of presenting the information; also that is what should be in the discussion part. Besides that, I would divide the conclusion in two and make the first part the recommendation and the second the conclusion. Under recommendations, I would offer solutions which would benefit Epworth Healthcare in applying Big Data.
Lessons learned from the Experience
I have learned lessons about how to handle this task as well as how to make sense of information in my studies. I have learned that approaching a problem through the use of various sources can give one a broader view and perspective. Additionally, I have realized that in the recommendation part or the conclusion, I should provide practical solutions ones which I have thoroughly reviewed and critically analyzed and found them to be the best. The digital world has made out the world better in one way and another, it has brought adverse effects.
