Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela a great revolutionary leader who served as the first black president of south (1994 to 1999). Moreover, he served as a great example of a selfless philanthropist who always gave his resources to those in need. His government focused on tearing apart the apartheid system and legacy which put an end to institutionalised racism and fostered reconciliation (History, 2017).
As an overall ability to lead and direct people, Mandela was an unrivalled specialist. For one his attributed to ending the apartheid regime. Nevertheless, some leadership style was very evident: Charismatic Mandela became one of the most influential people in the 20th century leading the fight against the apartheid system through strong stands of equality and fairness. He succeeded winning freedom for the south Africans by being a charismatic leader, which essentially proved to be successful and captivating (Wayne, 2011). Inspirational He strived to encourage others to have their own ideas and understanding on major life issues such as equality regardless of the diversity.
Transformational During his leadership tenure, Mandela elevated his follower's consciousness by invoking their higher values and ideals. He influenced this outlook through education, which was a key aspect of his work. Forgiveness He forgave his oppressors a tough request for someone imprisoned for 27 years. Moreover, at his presidential confirmation, he invited a former prison the same oppressors. These attributes won the hearts of his people which led served as a good example to his people. Doggedness Mandela was so focused on his mission that he sacrificed 27 years in prison to liberate his people.
Overall, Mandela was the leader that lead South Africa to freedom, freedom from colonialism and the apartheid regime. Secondly, as part of the African congress, he held peaceful movements against oppressive regimes. His also attributed to being a champion of freedom and equality across the world, where he influenced many people especially the oppressed to take up the fight for equality. In addition to this, Mandela is attributed for his leadership style that aligned complex issues in politics, social and economical to give a sustainable environment. This leadership style also led to his success in reconciliation endeavours where, criminals of the apartheid regime were accorded amnesty so long as they admitted their wrong doings. Moreover, he was an awardee of the Nobel peace prize (1993), before being president. Finally, he has an international day named after him (July 18) which is meant to spread world wide peace (Nelson Mandela Foundation, 2017).
