Project Objectives· To develop a web application for social media research centre. · Project is being performed because social media research is one of the most popular trends in research. So, David has decided to start a research canter of social media. For conducting this research in effective manner he needs to develop a web application. So, this is the major reason behind this project (Mali?, Makitan & Petrov, 2016). · Project activities will be involved in planning, designing, implementation, testing and installation of web application project. · Website of the social media research will be considered as primary deliverable and it will contain information about all major research projects, supervisor’s list, student projects, publication and project reports, etc. · This project will be beneficial for all students because application manager can u pdate all the information on website using login (Vijayasarathy & Butler, 2016). This website will be useful for all students and research scholars because they can get information about program recorded presentations and reports/publications of the events held in the area of social media research. · Along with this web application project will be beneficial for research centre promotion also. Including this manager of this research centre can track and record all data in effective manner. Further, it will provide an online platform to social media research centre. · Clear description of the project’s benefits to the organisation · Due to the specific budget and time project manager cannot add some advance features in web application. But, project manager will include all necessary features in web application which will be required for starting a social media research centre (Colombo & et al., 2016). |
MOV - Measurable Organisational ValueDeveloping a web application is the major goal of this project and this will provide an online presence of the social media research centre. This project will have positive and negative impact on different areas and in terms of importance following ranks can be given to these areas: 1. Social: Website development project will help in developing contact with society and improve the social relationship as well (Dell, Newton & Petroff, 2016). 2. Strategy: It is one of the best strategies for organization and project will have positive impact on strategic management and activities of social media research centre. 3. Operational: This project will have positive impact on operation management because it can manage all operation in easy and quick manner. 4. Customer: Research scholars, professors, subject matter experts and students are considered as major customer for this project. These can easily attract with the website. So, this project has positive impact on customers also. 5. Financial: Developing a new web application requires huge amount of investment so, it has negative impact on financial position of the company. But, after completing this project it will be profitable for the organization as well (Martinelli & Milosevic, 2016). Values:· Better: This project will improve the quality of the social media research centre because it will help in providing all information to students by online platform. So it will improve the quality of the research centre. · Cheaper: Social media research centre needs to record all data manually so, this web application project will reduce the cost of manual system and staff members because it will record all data on online portal or data base management system. So, this project will be important for cutting the extra cost of social media research centre. Stakeholder target and metric:· Student: These stakeholders will require all information about the publications and student’s project and events (Lee, Wei & Ghani, 2016). · Manager: He/She will expect to update and track all information about the social media research centre. · Research scholar: They will expect information about the future conferences, journals papers and publications. |
Acceptance Criteria· Time, cost, quality and deliverables are considered as major factors by which project manager can compare to determine the success or failure of the project. · If project will be completed on time and with specified budget then it will lead the project success. Along with this, if developed website has achieved the project scope and all deliverables then it will lead project success. But, in case of the low quality, extra cost and time can create a situation of the project failure. · An effective web application will be considered as a major project deliverable. · Web application project will start on 1st April 2017 and will be completed on 30th November 2017. It will take 8 months to complete (Leary, 2016). |
Assumptions and Constraints· Appropriate availability of the physical and human resources was considered as major assumption which has been made by the project manager during this project. · Time and cost were known as major constraints for this project because it is an information technology project and latest technology is become very costly so, it was difficult to manage the available finance and time as well (Talk, 2016). |
Lessons Learned· Accomplishment of this project was one of the difficult tasks for me. I have taught lots of new things at the time of completing this project. It has increased my knowledge and skills in terms of project management and website development. Along with this, my learning has augmented in terms of content development and feasibility analysis. Along with this, now can operate MS project which can help in estimating the total time and cost for this project. But, I have faced problem at the time of conducting research because there is lack of availability of the data about the social media research centre. But, using the advance searching option i have collected enough information to conduct whole investigation. |

Communication Plan Template
Plan purpose – Project manager has developed a communication plan for making effective communication between all stakeholders of the web application project. They used telephones, mails, video ad workshop as a major communication channel. These have helped in making strong communication and coordination among all team members. Project manager has used the lateral communication because all of the team members were worked on the same project and at same level. So, they could communicate all information in effective manner (Colombo & et al., 2016).
Change management – Project manager has used Deming cycle to manage all necessary changes regarding resources and schedule. This process includes four basic steps to manage changes and these are Plan, Do, Check and Act. It has helped in making necessary decisions about the changes and improves the project management also.
Meeting agenda – Determining and communicating goals, objectives and project deliverables to all team members was considered as major agenda of meeting. Along with this project manager can evaluate the project progress also (Martinelli & Milosevic, 2016).
