Regina is the owner of the swim centre and has been trying to increase its profitability and has been looking every detail of the swim centre. This report will help in analyzing the strategies she has undertaken and further the way she can improve her profitability position of swim centre. Besides this, the various other factors will be highlighted that will help in reducing cost through the effectiveness of the measures taken in term three and would be taken in term four.

The report deals with different instructors, number of classes enrolled, time of classes, day, and cost per class / term and total amount received from the learners after deducting discount. Although, Regina has considered many factors since the beginning but there can be improvement in the same. There is a different alignment to the analysis done and different heads have been given for the same

Analysis of Instructors, Classes Enrolled, Time and Days

To start with different instructors have been taken in consideration who teaches different classes in a day as per the timings. The instructors like Claire, Jamie, Joanne, Maryanne, Regina, Steven and Tom are old instructors. However, Regina has recently made an inclusion of new instructor named Rachael, an experienced one and had allotted less classes sessions in comparison to Tom, Steven and Claire.

As per the table, given above, Tom has the maximum number of sessions as 86 followed by Steven and Claire as 56 each from 8.30 am to 6.30 pm. On the other hand, Rachael has only 26 sessions which is less as she is new and not upto date with the system. This can be further depicted through a bar graph.

Other thing, which we come to know that the maximum number of sessions which further represents students are with Tom, but the maximum number of classes are taken from the timing 4.00 pm to 4.30 pm which is considered suitable for the student as they come back from school in the afternoon and then come for the learning. Now the number of classes as per day’s highlights the maximum crowd of learners received and the maximum swarm is on Monday followed by Friday with approximate 19% of students in the session from 4.00 pm to 4.30 pm

However, two new classes have been brought is Penguin (for beginners) and Dolphin (for perfection in learning). The Dolphin and Seahorse has the maximum classes as 64 each with students and Penguin has the least with 19.

Analysis of Amount Received 

The amount received is variable as it is taken as per cost per term which is of 10 weeks with the rate of each class such as Penguin with $14 per class and rest at $17. Moreover, to attract more group of children, Regina has tried to give out discounts for full payment before the commencement of term and has been fruitful as there have been maximum enrolments. The division has been done on instructors as well as classes running in the swim school.

The maximum contribution has been given by Tom as 23.3% to the total sum achieved and Regina is contributing 7.77% to the swim school’s profit. Also, as per the classes given in Table 4, Dolphin class has been seem to be a success with maximum contribution at par with Seahorse class and least has been received by the Penguin Class

Conclusion

It can be concluded that porpoise is running in a shortage of funds because as said earlier there are many other factors/payments that are not shown, also, with additional expenses profits might decrease. Despite the fact, Regina had made an attempt to increase the profit on the total sum received as the new instructor has even acquired 26 sessions with an average class of 7. In addition, the two classes added that is Penguin and Dolphin have reaped results but the maximum help in profits have been received from Dolphin class. Lastly, the discount deduction in fees has attracted more enrolments in the third term and made an addition to revenue.

Recommendations

There are two points that can be further recommended to Regina in the fourth term time table are

• Although, the Penguin class has received the least amount and response on enrolments, it should be removed and another class adding to the “post learning sessions” being names as “Whale” should be included that makes the learners ready for competition and further.
• Secondly, additional benefits should be entitled and more students should be under Rachael sessions so that more students can get a benefit of an experienced teacher. Also, Regina can keep a little hike in fee with a class on Monday, followed by a Friday under the timings of 4.00 pm / 4.30 pm session.
