LGMT/682
The purpose of this paper is to discuss the impact of technology on supply chain visibility. From the days of paper and rotary phones to today’s high-speed, social media connected world, advances in technology have brought new and exciting developments to the visibility of products as they move through the supply chain. The first part of the paper will focus on the technologies that have improved the visibility of the supply chain, from barcode to Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) and Artificial Intelligence (AI). The second part of the paper will focus on the use of technology in the supply chain to track a product’s lifecycle, from design to delivery. The third part of the paper will focus on the challenges of using advance technologies, including privacy concerns, cost, and the outlook for the future.
