Japan has always been a significant contributor in Asia’s economic development. Japan applied multilateralism strategy towards central Asia. In this context, the 1997 Eurasian diplomacy and CAJ or Central Asia plus Japan dialogue of 2004 should be considered as effective examples that Japan has long forgotten. After the cold war, Japan struggled a lot to cope up with the international affairs and highlighted the importance of Eurasia. Multilateralism can be defined as an institution that manages relationship among multiple states. After the cold war Japan’s Prime Minister Yoshida Shigeru took a middle way. While maintaining the national constitution, he established an alliance with United States of America. At that time, the tendency of regionalism was increased in the Asia pacific region. It is noteworthy that Japan did not intervene against any of its neighboring Asian countries but mainly focused on economic relationships under the shelter of USA. The time after cold war is considered to an important period for Japan’s political history as it started interacting with other Asian countries concerning security essays. Japan’s approach to Asia can be understood with its political and economic affair with various Asian countries. Historians stated that for country like Uzbekistan, Japan implemented bilateral approach. After Soviet Union’s collapse, finance and international affairs minister Chino Tadao visited president Karimov that reflects Japan’s support to Uzbekistan.Japan offered grans for various development purposes too.

In 1868 the Meiji restoration took place where the emperor won primarily because of weaponry strength which was greatly inspired by Fukuzawa’s translation of an English book on rifles. In 1868 Fukuzawa published three volume Conditions in the West. In the first volume, he discussed western institutions, in the second he discussed civil society’s social network. In the third volume he discussed human rights, tax information and historical data of France and Russia. Many scholars commented that the book had great impact on Japanese society. He played significant role in westernization of Japan. He successfully combined eastern spirit with western science. He initiated the “rational accounting system” and tuition system. He helped Japan to grow into a wealthy and industrial nation like western nations.

Ogai Mori’s The Wild Geese (1911-1913) demonstrates a turbulent time when Japan was entering into a new era.At the end of Meiji period, Japanese society was transforming from feudal to modernism. Numerous significant social and national changes along with the moral values were presented in his narrative. Rather than nostalgic fantasizing about the old period, he highlighted how modernization has effected people on their private, public and social life.

People from before and after Meiji restoration experienced different social and political changes. This generational division is the central theme of his works. As argued by various historians, The Japanese society was experiencing several changes during that period and the relationship between individual and society was changing as well. The author tried to explore whether society is affected or benefitted by the increasing individual responsibility.

Communist author Kobayashi Takaji’s novel “Kanikosen” talks about the rebellion of fishermen community against the bad working condition . Due to the poor work condition, the fishermen had to consider a huge life risk in order to drive their living hood. This book has been out of print for a long term after being published in 1933 . During the global financial recession, this book makes a good number of sales. In addition, a film was also made over this novel. Economic recession of two decade left a negative impact on the labor market in 2008 . This book exposes the reality of capitalism. In this context, the potentiality of labor union is also analyzed in this book.

The novel of Kobayashi Takiji plays a premium role in order to conserve the rights of labor. It is also necessary to note hereby that this book has a major contribution in the formation of today’s employment structure of Japan. At the present new graduates and women are leading the employment market of Japan . On the other hand, senior employees are representing organizational hierarchy in Japan . Today, Japanese employment structure is characterized by security and permanence.

After the bombings over Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Japan struggles hard to develop their infrastructure as a developed country. The history of Japan’s struggle is necessary to take into account in order to evaluate the public participation and protest of Japan in the context of new political order. However, the emergence of the imperial Japan fell back to the word war II along with the various protests in the new political order. In order to rebuild Japan as a strong nation after World War II, it has been necessary to adopt a new constitution, which will be able to secure the rights and freedom of individual citizen in Japan. The new constitution of Japan considers legislation in terms of ‘collective self-defense’. The new law ensured Japan engagement in foreign conflicts.  However, the larger population of Japanese was not in support of this law. On the other hand, the political leaders of Japan through this law intended to accomplish their individual self-interest. However, massive public protestation restricts the enforcement of the law and new bill has been formed in favor of democracy. In 1960, the U.S. Japan Security Treaty is highly protested by the older Japanese. At that time, deadly Minamata Disease had been broken out in Japan. This disease drew the attention of the Japanese in claiming a Safe environment. Hence, Environment Agency is created in 1971. Later, in 2001 this agency is turned into the Environmental Ministry. Thus, Japan Government has to receive a number of changes due to the public protestation. In 2012, Japanese people were incorporated to protest against nuclear power. Numerous scholars mentioned that this protest movement has led Japan Government to enforce new security legislation.

It is concluded that today, Japan is one of the most secured, developed and democratic countries in the world. A series of public protestation in Japan has led to be Japan Government in adopting a unique constitution. This constitution helps Japan to ensure conservation of human rights, equity of labor market, safe environment, and security of life.
