There are several factors that a consumer keep in mind while choosing a healthcare organization. Two of them are the infrastructure of the healthcare organization and the cost transparency of a healthcare organization.
A proper and a well furnished healthcare centre are always attractive to the consumers. When the infrastructure of a health care setting is good the patient is assured that it would maintain the standards of patient’s safety and quality (Sinaiko et al., 2012). It is evident that a healthcare centre with a proper set up would avail skilled doctors and registered nurses. A health care centre with a proper infrastructure would use the electronic technology to give a desired care. For example, the patients could easily check their medical reports online or can communicate with the physicians via online (Sinaiko et al., 2012). Online billing system in a well structured healthcare setting is useful as it can be electronically matched with the insurer’s benefits.
Another important factor is the cost transparency. It is an essential information gathering tool which a consumer can use o compare the prices, so that more informed decisions can be taken up (Hibbard et al., 2012). Greater transparency would help the patient asses, how much they will have to spend out of pocket for receiving the care.
As health care executive, I must say that my healthcare organization meet up to the above mentioned dimensions. Apart from these, the infrastructure of my organization is good and is consumer friendly. My concerned organization shows many customer friendly concepts like offering of extended hours, good customer care service, walk in access for scheduled appointments and routine care. Finally my organization is cost effective and provides quality care (Hibbard et al., 2012). Thus all these can be taken in to account by the customer to choose the desired healthcare.
