Measuring and reporting CQMs helps to ensure that a health care system is delivering safe, timely, efficient, effective, equitable, and patient-centered care.
Hospital Compare collects this data from participating hospitals, nursing homes, and home health care agencies across the United States. The data is reported on the websites with links provided so that the information can be reviewed by prospective patients, insurers, and the public. As nurses, many of us participate in the implementation of the “core measures” in our facility and may recognize when we have a “fall out” or do not meet that standard. In this Assignment, a review of your facility and another that you consider comparable or a competitor to your own will facilitate the nurses’ role in quality improvement and patient safety issues that impact the clinical setting.
Answer:
The two health care organizations which I have selected for the assignment are Community Health Care Association and New York Children's Health because of the wide range of quality health care services that they provide to the patients. The Community Health Care Association is known for providing quality cost effective treatment facilities to the patients from the diverse parts of the city of New York whereas the health care organization New York Children's Health is reputed for providing effective childcare treatment services to the children of the city. It is because of the wide range of health care services that they provide to the citizens of New York which has made me to select these two health care organizations for the assignment.
The New York Children's Health is a Medicare certified hospital and is one of the top childcare treatment service providers of not only the city of New York but also of the nation itself. The Patient Survey Results shows that more than 71% of the patients are satisfied with the services that they receive at this health care center and are of the viewpoint that the organization does provides timely as well as effective health care services to them. Furthermore, the death rates for the concerned health care center are very low and the patients are of the viewpoint that the center does provide cost effective services. In addition to these, the health care organization also takes the help of the Medicare Imaging system which further improves the quality of the health care services that the concerned organization provides to the children.
The Community Health Care Association, on the other hand, is also a Medicare-certified hospital however it scores very low in comparison to the other national hospitals of the nation of USA. Taking the article of Scal (2016) into consideration it can be said the lack effective usage of the recent medical innovations is one of the main reasons for the problems that the health care organization is facing. Thus, the effective use of the advanced medical innovations is likely to help the concerned health care organization to improve the services provided by them.
The differences between the performance levels of the two health care organizations can affect the performance level of the nurses in a significant manner. It is pertinent to note that the model of nursing practice that a particular health care organization adopts has a direct impact on the quality of the treatment services provided by them. Thus, it is seen that effective nursing practice framework used by the New York Children's Health is reflected in the quality of the health care services provided by them in comparison to the one provided by Community Health Care Association.
