ECE 777 Network Design: An E-commerce Architecture

1) A general description of an e-commerce architecture as it pertains to the cloud. For example the payment gateway site can be onpremise but everything else can be hosted.

2) A vizio diagram or some equivalent that shows how ebay's portal is structured (this diagram should include the paymentgateway which is tied to the front end page which is tied to the application itself which is then tied to the back end [database])

3) A description of a portal/ how it is used or configured and benefits.

1) A general description of an e-commerce architecture as it pertains to the cloud.

E-commerce is a type of website that allows the clients or customers of a particular company to have access to various sales services, there are three domains in an e-commerce architecture which includes public networks, provider clouds, and the enterprise networks (Behrouz, 2015). .

The public network domain has the user of e-commerce channels to facilitate the interaction of it and the enterprises; it also facilitates communications among the peer cloud services.

The traffic of communication between the public network and the cloud services is facilitated by the edge services.

However the cloud service providers do offer services with various abilities of e-commerce which includes merchandising, locations awareness, payments processes, customer’s care, and distributed order managements managing the supply chain and managing the warehouses.

The marketing process uses the analytics that assists the digital, cross channels, socials and sentiments analytics (Cain, 2015).

The data cloud services like the analytics of weather assists the adjusting process of the inventories in the merchandise and enhance transportation in the cloud of data providers, however the cloud data services generate the report from various data clouds services, enterprises data and the applications through components of the performance of the business in the provider’s cloud

The enterprise network domain has the system of the enterprise which entails enterprises application, enterprises data store and components for connection which can do provision of secured messages and transactions to and from the system’s engagements, enterprise’s data, and enterprise’s applications.

The figure below shows the eBay’s architecture this has the illustration of the payment gateway, front end and the back end structure.

The e-bay  is an e-commerce website/portal which enables  the user to sell their products and check on the available  products in the stock or even request for some products as well .

Below is a diagram illustrating how the system is used configured and the way information flows:

Using and configuring the e-commerce website.

Steps

1. The customers will use the browsers to browse information concerning the items required using either a mobile phone, computers or a laptop ,then in order to get updates of it s availability he is required to register  this information is captured through the commerce analytics and markets components (Todd , 2013).
2. After a short period the merchants do introduce the required shoe design by the customer ,and it get launched and  through various channels of market campaigns like the e-campaign ,the catalog of the e-commerce is updated and then made available to be accessed through that channel or e-commerce website .
3. The merchant sends an email to the customer concerning the available new shoe design that the customer wanted. The customer’s login into the website using the link sent to his email by the merchant and gets more information about the shoe product; however the digital messaging will also be used to get to the customer.
4. According to the profile of customer   there will be a variety of products that will be displayed on the e-bay website and the most preferred product will be rendered to the customer.
5. The customer can take advantage of the offer given to him, this is as a result of any purchases made there before and the type of order made as well.
6. The customer then do place orders and make payments through e-bay website application and any information about order can be sent to the system of the distributed order management system.
7. The merchants can then fulfill the orders made the customers, by shipping the products to their respective customers and then sends the emails to the customers including the shipping details .Then the supply chain management is contacted by the distribution orders management to record the orders which are captured.
8. The merchant keep on checking their inventories and order new products from their suppliers through the warehouses managements.
9. The merchants could then send orders of the purchases, requests from the dropped ships and the invoices this is by help of the components of supplies chain and logistics managements (Satalkar, 2015).

10. Then the information is gotten from the social analysts who get information from customers concerning the new product this is achieved through the use of the components of commerce analytics club.
11. This information is then sent to the merchants inventories to be analyzed further and can be optimized where the products are changed according to the feedback obtained from the e-commerce analytics and warehouse management.

Benefits of e-commerce website.

1. Establishment of presence Online: There are many customers who buys many products online and through the e-commerce the business can end up making a very high profit..
   2. Attracting of the new  Customers: Asa result of having the business hosted online the new customers get attracted as one goal of making the business to grow.
   
   3. Minimizing the cost of Operation: The e-commerce system store save much on money ,this is by automating inventory system and minimize the cost incurred.
   
   4. Enhance understanding of the Customers: The ecommerce enable the business owner learn the characters of the customers and enable him to track the way the customers buy the products.
   
   5. Boosting new brands awareness to the customers: The e-commerce makes the seller to know the rise of new bland of the product in the markets and thus prepare him for the competition.
   
   6. providing the Information customers: The e-commerce should provide the customers with  much relevant information ,this will allow them to make purchases that they want (Hashemi, 2016).
   
   7. Increasing the level of products Sales :The e- commerce site will also allow the customers from any region to place orders or even buy products at their own convenience.

The figure below show browsing the phone product.

This figure show the buying of the product where the payment is made through the visa card ,rupay or the state bank of India (Iqbal, 2013).
