1. Formal IT Governance Framework of Telstra

The control framework is the data structure, which categorizes as well as organizes the internal controls of the company. These internal controls are procedures or processes and it helps in the proper creation of business values and the minimizing the risks. The governance framework of Telstra significantly plays the most important and integral role to support their business and even to help them in delivering their strategies. This governance framework provides the basic structure to Telstra by which the strategy as well as business objectives are set and the performance is being monitored and risks are managed. The framework also involves the clear understanding of accountability and decision making within the business and then provides guidance on the behavioural standards.

The major advantage of the IT governance framework of this organization is that it involves open, timely and clear communication with the shareholders. It also includes the clear delegation and robust system of risk management or assurance. Telstra values, policy framework and codes of conduct are also provided here for the core purpose of achieving the strategy. A skilled experienced, independent and diverse board are suited for the major requirements in Telstra. The IT governance policy comprises of purpose, rules of IT governance, the key principles, and imperial information technology governance framework, responsibilities of the organizational employees and finally the proper implementation of the policy. The key principles of this policy mainly includes business alignment and enablement, operations performance, sourcing, supplier performance management, business continuity or disaster recovery, security and finally compliance.

Situation Involving Australian Standard for Fulfilling ICT Task

ICT or information and communication technology is the extension of information technology or IT, which majorly stresses on the significant role of several unified communications as well as the proper integration of computers, enterprise software and telecommunications. The users get the access to eventually store, manipulate and transmit the relevant information. The major or the most important feature of this information and communication technology is that it maintains standards for all countries or organizations. However, there are some situations, where these standards are not fulfilled and the particular organization or individual undergoes unethical deeds and are hence become parts of the unethical works.

I had faced similar situation while completing my internship in a renowned organization. I was assigned for an ICT task and checked that the task was not ethical and are not following work ethics or standards. I immediately took account of the Australian Standard of AS 8015 (2005), which the standard for Corporate Governance of ICT. This particular corporate governance of information and communication technology is the system, through which the current as well as the future utilization of information and communication technology is being directed or controlled. I even evaluated and directed the plans for using information and communication technology to support my ICT task and achieve success. Since, the policies or strategies are properly included in this specific standard of AS 8015 (2005), it was quite easier for me to complete my task professionally and ethically. Finally, I ensured that my task is conforming every organizational formal rule.

3. Situation Involving Compliance or Legislation for Fulfilling ICT Task

Information and communication technology is the proper convergence of telephone networks or audio visual networks with the computer networks with the help of link system or single cabling. The unified system of signal distribution, cabling and signal management are easily demonstrated with this information and communication technology for the purpose of merging the telephone networks with the system of computer network. Legislation or compliance is required for each and every information and communication technology task and hence is termed as legal and ethical in respect to the others.

While working in the previous organization, I have faced a similar situation. I had to complete a task of information and communication technology and I had to complete it after following each and every law or regulation. However, I saw that one of the members of the organization that involved some of the illegal activities and actions. Being a responsible and ethical staff of the company, it was my duty to maintain law and ethics in work. I took into account the ICT Government Policy of Australian governance. This particular policy articulates the principle to conform to every legal, industry, statutory, regulatory as well as internal compliance requirement and obligation in comparison to the utilization of ICT to complete any task. This policy defines the scope or context of authorities, which are obliged to adhere to the entire ICT contract, standard, policy and notification of the government. I also promoted the compliance culture for supporting the corporate governance of ICT and thus my problem was resolved.
