BG007 Project Management : Monitoring and Evaluation
Answer:
Introduction:
“The critical think is to analyse the methods for improving the performance and working tactics of the employees” (Smith, 2011). The implementation of the organization learning is the non-profitable struggle but it should be handled at highest priority for the magnificence of the business in the near future.
Challenges faced in applying learning practices within the organization:
The challenges which are identified in organization learning are categorised as lack of knowledge about goal and objective of the organization due to which the performance of the employees are suffered, individuals are not awarded with sufficient incentives which can leads to the feeling of demotivation in them, and “uncertainty associated with the effectiveness of the process used for sharing of knowledge and learning practices” (Garwin, 2010). The figure below shows the four elements which are required for organization learning:
- The Goal Gap: The goals and objective of the organization should be defined to the employees so that they can improve their performance in the direction of achieving ultimate product of the firm.
- The Incentive Gap: Strategic clarity helps in achieving the goal of the organization. The successful achieving the objective should be awarded by the good incentives and reward to motivate the workers for developing their skills.
- The Process Gap: The process implemented within the organization should be aligned with the objective and goal of the organization so that workers should feel motivated that they are working in the right direction.
There are five building blocks which helps in overcoming the challenges faced by the organization learning are systematic approach for solving the problem, use of experimentation with new techniques and technology, learning implied from their experience and “past working structure, making use of best practices of past experience, and rapid distribution of knowledge in the organization” (Perkins, 2012).
Relationship between Project Monitoring and Evaluation:
“Project monitoring and evaluation are the process which focuses on improving the performance and result of the organization to enhance the magnificence of the company” (Brady, 2010). These processes are used for assessing the performance of the project, learning outcomes of the programmes set by the government, establishment of links between action performed in past, present, and future. “The process of evaluation helps in providing the report of recommendation and learning outcomes of the activities which are being implemented within the organization” (Meredith, 2008) whereas the process of monitoring focuses on continuous assessment of the stakeholders and the on-going activities. The monitoring is the short term assessment of activities and evaluation is the long term assessment. Both activities helps in taking decision associated with past and future activities. The figure below shows the roadmap of project monitoring and evaluation process.

The organization learning provides the clear concept of objectives which plays a considerable role in achieving the ultimate goal of the firm. The knowledge acquisition and improved skills and performance are the two pillars responsible for the prosperity of the business.
