The purpose of this assignment is to enable the students to enhance their understanding on Factories and Machinery Act, 1967 and Occupational Safety and Health Act, 1994.

REQUIREMENT:

Textile industries involve diverse operations including fibre synthesis, weaving, manufacturing, dyeing and finishing. There are numerous health and safety issues associated with the textile industry. They include noise exposure to the employees and chemical exposure from the processing and dyeing of materials. In Malaysia, this type of industries definitely needs to comply with Occupational Safety and Health Legislations.

PART  1

A new textile manufacturing from Taiwan is going to start the operation in Nilai, N.Sembilan by the end of 2020.  You are hired as a OSH consultant to the company, you are tasked to draw a plan to comply to Occupational Safety and Health Act 1994 on NOISE issues. You are required to produce a comprehensive plan to comply to noise legislation. Your plan should clearly  stated noise compliance criteria, actions to be taken by employer, time frame to comply to all noise legislation requirements and in case should any monitoring or testing to be conducted, who should be involved.

Since the textile process use a lot of hazardous chemicals, another task is assigned to you. You are needed to inform in writing to the company correctly on compliances requirements for use of hazardous chemicals to the Occupational Safety and Health Act, 1994 and its Regulations. (Assuming the quantity of all hazardous chemicals used is less than 10% of their threshold quantity).
