Questionnaire Design - Within Assessment Answer

Within the range of 2000-3000 words, you will be asked to write up the individual option (details are provided on Moodle below). All research reports should include abstract, introduction, method with the usual subsections, results, discussion, references and appendices for materials and statistical analysis. Your report should include an appropriate title which captures the essence of the research reported. Questionnaire Design– Alternative Assignment Individual Differences and Psychometric Research General introduction All the information you need for completing the resit/alternative assignment for the psychometric report can be found in the resit and alternative report sections of moodle. This assignment is an individual report which replaces the group work and the individual reflection on group work. You will find the following materials: 1. An SPSS data file with data from a goal orientation and an impulsivity questionnaire. Please note this data was collected from students on campus in a variety of locations (library, cafes, corridor areas). 2. A coding frame which shows the original questionnaire used to collect the data and some instructions on how to recode reverse scored questions. There is also information about how the codes used in the data file translate to the various scales measured by the questionnaire at the bottom of this page. 3. A paper by Eysenck & Eysenck explaining the impulsivity questionnaire 4. A paper by Malouff et al explaining the goal orientation measure. 5. A turnitin submission box for submitting your assignment The tasks 1. Conduct a literature review around the concept of goal orientation. This should be broader than references and reading on Moodle, although these are the starting point. 2. Following the above literature review, refer to the lecture slides on the multiple indicator approach and develop 10 goal orientation items toward development of a new scale. These should not be in the form of amended wording within the existing scale. Please also choose a likert scale to accompany your measure. 3. The folder includes data gathered from an additional validation measure that was used to start to validate the goal orientation scale. (impulsivity). Please identify TWO additional validity measures (convergent and divergent) that could be used to validate your own goal orientation measure. 4. Subject to individual circumstances (to be decided by your tutor after discussion with you), you may be asked to collect 5 datasets from students. Participants will be expected to complete the existing goal orientation and impulsivity measures. If this task is confirmed, you will therefore be asked to prepare ethics paperwork. Statistics details The data file contains data from 180 participants, who have completed two questionnaires, a goal-orientation questionnaire (Malouf et al, 1990) and a questionnaire measuring impulsivity (Eysenck & Eysenck, 1977). The impulsivity scale measures three aspects of impulsivity, impulsivity (narrow), non-planning and liveliness. You will need to (1) Recode the reverse scored questions as per coding scheme (see separate file on moodle). (2) Conduct and report appropriate reliability analyses on all scales. (3) Calculate appropriate totals. (4) Demonstrate validity of the goal orientation scale by showing it correlates in the predicted manner with at least one of the impulsivity subscales or the overall impulsivity scale. (5) Produce and report appropriate descriptive statistics for each scale and comment on these. (6) Demonstrate validity of the goal orientation scale by showing it correlates in the predicted manner with at least one of the impulsivity subscales or the overall impulsivity scale. (7) Produce and report appropriate descriptive statistics for each scale and comment on these. Writing up You are required to write a psychometric (please ensure that your report focuses on measurement!) research report based on the data provided. Please refer to the lecture notes and also the folder about preparing the group report. The guidelines given for this report and marking criteria apply to the resit submission. (9) Produce and report appropriate descriptive statistics for each scale and comment on these. Your report should be within a range of 2-3000 words (+/- 10%) and contain all the usual subsections, abstract, introduction, method split into design, participants, materials and procedure, results, discussion and references. You will need to include Appendices providing a copy of the 10 item proposed measure and all SPSS output.
