Ethics: Courage or Truthfulness? Read what Aristotle has to say about both in the Nicomachean Ethics (Courage: Book 3, Chapters 6-9; Truthfulness: Book 4, Chapter 7).
Answer the question: Which is more important for a person to possess, courage or truthfulness?
**Use the Nicomachean Ethics and your own reasoning to make your argument. You must choose one of the alternatives and may not sidestep the issue by saying both are equally important, it depends, or something else evasive. Pick one and defend your choice.**
Week 2 (Philosophy Questions)
Philosophy of Religion: Study Aquinas' five "ways" of demonstrating God's existence in the learning resources then engage in the study of ontology by examining your belief in God.
Answer the question: Does God really exist?

Week 3 (Philosophy Questions)
Epistemology: The knowledge of morality. Examine the rationalism vs empiricism debate by exploring how you learned your morality.
Answer the question: How did you learn what was right and wrong? By your answer, are you a Rationalist or an Empiricist?
Use Descartes' Meditations and your own reasoning in your argument.
Week 4 (Philosophy Questions)
Political Theory: The Limits of Freedom. Locke promoted the rights of the individual over the power of the state, but recognized the power of the state to limit freedom in some cases. Explore this conflict by asking yourself a political question:
Answer the question: Do citizens have the right to break the law as they see fit, even if it harms others directly?

Answer the question: Is the rational metaphysics we explored in this class useful to me personally?
