Welcome to NCS3101: Child and Adolescent Health. Caring for children and adolescents presents particular challenges for nurses requiring evidence based skills to assess, manage and evaluate nursing care of children and young people. This unit will provide a wider context to undergraduate nursing students including the role of the healthcare team, emerging health priorities, legal and ethical responsibilities, and, ways ill-health impacts on the nursing requirements specific to these age groups.

In this context, students will be provided with opportunity to develop a systematic body of knowledge on the role and responsibilities of the nurse in recognising and responding to the health needs of children and young people, and the identification of appropriate interventions to promote optimal health, well-being and development.
