In Assignment # 1, you will apply the eight steps of sound ethical decision making (Trevino & Nelson, pp. 52–58) to an ethical dilemma related to you or someone in your profession. Process: Step 1: Search the Internet for an ethical dilemma related to your profession, use one from your own personal work—related experience, or make one up related to your profession. Please make sure it is an ethical dilemma (re- read pages 38–39), as opposed to an ethical issue/problem. You will approach this assignment from the perspective of an employee in the workplace. (In the second assignment you will use this same case to look at ethics from an organizational perspective) Step 2: After reading pages 38-39 do some extra research so that you fully understand the difference between an ethical dilemma and an ethical issue/problem. Explain the difference and discuss briefly why your case is an ethical dilemma and not an ethical issue/problem. Step 3: Apply the eight steps to ethical decision making framework (pp. 52–58 of text) to analyze your dilemma. Please make sure that you explain why you have chosen the option you have chosen. Step 4: Conclude by recapping your ethical dilemma, explain which action is the best action.
