You will find FIVE pieces of anthropological literature and relate them to a case study of your choosing. You will offer an annotated bibliography of these readings then explain what theoretical insight each piece offers your case study. In this assessment, you will be building an anthropological theoretical framework and then applying that framework. In the annotated bibliography you will separate the theoretical ideas of the literature that you've chosen from the case studies they've been extracted from or applied to. You will then explain how these theories are unique and connected to each other (this is the framework construction phase) and then how they might offer insight when used in a different context. The first part of this assignment is the annotated bibliography. This section should be approximately 1200 words. Select five ANTHROPOLOGICAL readings. Do not use medicine, psychology or marketing literature. Give each reading a paragraph of its own (240 words) and tell us: What is this paper about? What is the methodology of this study (ethnographic research? data analysis? textual analysis? literature review? survey?)? What is the theory? What is the case study? 2. In the second part of the essay, you will use the remaining 1000-800 words to tell us how your literature is theoretically related to each other and your new case study. How do the theories connect to each other? What are the differences between them? What specific insights might each theory offer? Then, briefly introduce a potential case study of your own and tell us how these theories might be useful in analysis. This assignment can be written as a report, so no conclusion or introduction are needed for the annotated bibliography section.
