Assignment 1 has two parts. Part 1 consists of component values calculations, schematic design, simulation and Part 2 consist of writing a technical report and documentation of the design process. 70% marks are assigned to Part 1 and 30% to Part 2.

For this assignment you are required to:

1.Design a street lighting system comprising a solar and wind powered LED lighting system.

2.Assess the performance of your design using MATLAB or Multisim.

The system must meet the following requirements:

Convert a low-level dc input voltage from solar Photovoltaic (PV) module to a high-level dc voltage required for the load.
The output of the DC-DC boost converter also connects to a grid-connected inverter so that surplus output can be exported to the grid.
Use appropriate pulse width modulated (PWM) signal to control switching of the MOSFET or IGBTs.
Output voltage should be 24 Volts for the LED street light.
Output current should not be less than 42 mA
