Elec8250 System On Chip Design: Assessment Answer

This purpose of this assignment is to have you understand the architecture of the Ultra96-V2 MPSoC development board and how it can be used to prototype SoC designs. Be sure to list the resources and reference materials you used to compile your report.

Part 1

At the heart of the Ultra96-V2 MPSoC development board is a Xilinx Zynq Ultrascale+ MPSoC. Describe the architecture and features of the specific Ultrascale+ chip that is on the Ultra96-V2. Give details of the processors, memory, interfaces and programmable logic and describe how they are connected.

Part 2

Describe the architecture of the Ultra96 -V2 board. List the interfaces and devices that are available and describe how they are connected to the Ultrascale+ MPSoC.

Part 3

For the system (system 2) you have been allocated, describe how the Ultra96-V2 development board can be used to prototype the system. What additional components would you need? Explain how these components might be connected to the SoC. Describe any assumptions you have made and justify your design decisions.

System 2: Head-mounted virtual reality (VR) system.

The VR system must not have any wires and will run from batteries. It will need to decode a 360° stereo video and 4-channel audio track that has been encoded in a proprietary format. The system should be able to determine the orientation of the user and decode the video and audio display that is appropriate for that direction.
