Well, Christmas is just around the corner. If you are anything like me, you must be looking forward to this break for months. This is a lovely time of the year as it brings along a lot of positive vibes. Everyone is happy and relaxed. Finally, it is the time to kick back and enjoy a little time off from our hectic schedule. You tend to make many plans for this time of the year, but after staying home for two-three weeks, the feeling eventually subsides and life is back to being mellow. Sounds familiar?
Don’t worry. You are not the only one who is sailing in this boat. Instead, why not make most of these holidays and earn a little bit of extra cash too. Here are some of the ways for making some money during the Holiday Season.
Babysitting
If you love babies, this is a perfect job for you. It is the holiday season and everyone is busy. Most of the daycares providers also go on vacation during this time. So this gives you a chance to earn some hard cash. All it takes is just a word of mouth that you are available for babysitting and the next thing you’ll know is that you have several offers at your disposal. And its easy cash too, as all it takes, is putting babies to sleep and enjoying the rest of the time watching television. My trick was to slip a lithium dose in the milk that the baby was drinking. Just kidding. Seriously, please don’t do that.
Pet Sitting
Most of the people go out on vacation for two-three weeks, leaving their pets alone. If you are an animal lover like I am, then this job is perfect for you. You get to play with these lovely creatures all day and then you get paid for it too. It is crazy eh?
Online Survey
Well I got to admit, filling surveys is not anyone’s definition of having fun and earning money, but on the brighter side it is pretty simple and it doesn’t even take much time. Well on your free time, while Facebooking, I don’t see any harm in filling some surveys to make some extra bucks. Do you? Freelancing
So you love to write? Why not use your creative skills to earn some money? There are plenty of companies that hire freelancers to write for their blogs. So you just have to put your creative hat on and choose a genre of your interest, send these companies your sample articles. If they’ll like your work, they’ll hire you as a freelancer and you’ll start earning some serious cash. Try some of the freelancing sites such as Upwork and Craigslist.
Gift Wrapping
At this time of the year, most of the shops are flooded with requests of gift wrapping the products; you can take advantage of this opportunity and earn some extra cash. There will be plenty of shops that will hire you for a month for wrapping gifts during this festive season. I know it sounds pretty boring, but it is a good way of earning extra cash in the winter break.
Tutoring
So you love a particular subject or you are good with numbers, and you love explaining stuff to people, then tutoring some students is perfect for you. Spread the word in your neighbourhood that you are available for tutoring students this winter break, and chances are you might find a couple of students to tutor. Then you can charge them a little lesser than the regular tutors and earn some money. There are also plenty of online tutoring websites that you can apply with and earn money by teaching kids from the comfort of your home.
Music Tutor
This is my favourite among the lot. If you know any musical instrument or you have good musical vocals, this is the perfect job for you. You can teach your neighbourhood kids the basics of singing, guitar, piano, violin or whatever instrument you play, and some easy songs to earn a little cash.
Mystery Shopping
You must be thinking, what the hell is mystery shopping? Well, Mystery Shopping is a tool used by market researchers or the company itself, where they send mystery shoppers to visit and review an outlet, a shop or a restaurant. So basically you get paid to visit these places and review them and check the quality of the products or food being served. Yeah, its true, I am not really making up this stuff, but you got to be careful as there are various mystery shopping sites that are just running a scam. So beware! Personal Shopping
This is a pretty cool and interesting way to earn some extra cash. You can offer your relatives and neighbours who have an extremely busy schedule, for going out to shop in place of them. This will involve buying presents, apparels and things like this. Then you can charge them some nominal amount in exchange for your services.
Delivery Jobs
During this time every food outlet and shops have got their hands full with the over flooding requests of customers. You can check out the shops and restaurants nearby your place and see if they need an extra hand in delivering their food or products.
Since most of these jobs are seasonal and will last through to January, take one as soon as you can and earn some extra money to pay all those Christmas bills. Or just treat yo’self with that leather jacket you always wanted or the iPad to store your favourite soundtracks.
